Buffering during a live match is the single most common complaint in IPTV, and it is also the most commonly misdiagnosed. The stream is usually fine. What fails is the last thirty metres — your router, your Wi-Fi band, and the apartment building around you.
Work through these in order. Most people are fixed by the second one.
1. You are on the 2.4GHz band
This is the cause more often than everything else combined, particularly in Dubai apartment towers where dozens of routers overlap on the same channels.
Your router almost certainly broadcasts two networks — one ending in 5G or 5GHz, and one that does not. Connect the TV, box or Firestick to the 5GHz one. It has less range but far less interference, and the difference on a live stream is immediate.
If the device only offers one network name, log into the router and split the bands so you can choose.
2. Where the router physically sits
5GHz does not pass through concrete well, and UAE apartment walls are thick. A router inside a media cabinet, behind the TV, or in another room will underperform badly no matter what speed you pay for.
- Get the router out in the open and off the floor.
- Keep it away from the microwave and from cordless phone bases.
- If the router is more than one wall away from the TV, run an Ethernet cable instead. Every box we sell has a LAN port, and a cable ends this entire category of problem permanently.
3. It only happens between 8pm and 11pm
If the stream is perfect in the afternoon and breaks up during evening matches, this is contention — not your equipment. Everyone in your building is streaming at the same time, and both your ISP's local segment and the upstream servers are at their busiest.
Things that genuinely help: switch to Ethernet, drop the stream from 4K to FHD for the match, and pause any other downloads in the house. Things that do not help: buying a more expensive box.
If it happens *every* evening on multiple channels, tell us — we can move your line to a different server, and that is a fix only we can apply.
4. The player's buffer is set wrong
Counterintuitively, the maximum buffer setting is usually the wrong choice. On a Firestick or a low-memory box, a large cache consumes the memory the decoder needs and produces the stutter it was meant to prevent.
Set the buffer to the middle option. If your player has a hardware-decoder toggle, make sure hardware decoding is on — software decoding will drop frames on 4K sports.
5. Your speed is fine but your line is not stable
IPTV needs far less bandwidth than people assume — roughly 8 Mbps for FHD and 25 Mbps for 4K. A 500 Mbps connection that drops packets is worse than a stable 50 Mbps one.
Run a speed test on the TV itself, not on your phone next to the router, and watch the jitter and packet-loss figures rather than the headline speed. High jitter with a high speed points squarely at the Wi-Fi, which takes you back to steps 1 and 2.
6. One channel only, not all of them
If everything else plays and a single channel breaks up, nothing on your side is wrong. That source is having a problem upstream, and it is normally resolved within hours.

If you only do four things:
- Move to the 5GHz network.
- Move the router into the open, or run Ethernet.
- Set the player buffer to medium and confirm hardware decoding is on.
